Open Tollway Positions









Senior Buyer  ($50,000.00 - $60,000.00 Annually) Deadline to apply 4/5/17


·       A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

·       Two to five years of progressive experience in the procurement of goods, supplies, equipment, and services in a large organizational setting is strongly preferred.

·       CPSM, CPP, CPPB, CPPM, CSCP, and/or CPPO certifications are strongly desired.

·       Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and procurement information systems is required.

·       Excellent follow-up skills with the ability to work on multiple projects while assuming a lead role in the area of contract administration inclusive of developing specifications are required.

·       Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail are required.

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.

·       Ability to interact effectively with various levels of management and to communicate well with staff and vendors is required.

·       Ability to write contract specifications in a clear and concise manner from sources ranging from non-existent to overly detailed is required.

·       Experience and involvement with Tollway contract documents is preferred.

·       Experience in participating with vendor negotiations is preferred.




Field Operations Manager $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 Annually Deadline to apply 4/5/17

         
·       High School graduate or GED equivalent is required.

·       Associates Degree is preferred. A minimum of 5 years management experience leading a team of technicians or operations staff is required.

·       Excellent interpersonal skills are required.

·       A minimum of 5 years of Field Operations experience with fiber optics systems, land mobile radio, data communications, antennas and transmission lines, and large communications and telephone systems analysis and troubleshooting.

·       Experience in developing and managing multiple project plans concurrently is required.

·       FCC General Radio & Telephone License or equivalent (i.e. ETA, APCO, ISCET) preferred.

·       Knowledge of FAA requirements regarding Communication Tower Structures preferred.

·       Must have a working knowledge of computer based systems, Microsoft Excel and Project. Must have the ability to work rotating shifts.

·       Must have the ability to work overtime as required including during off hours / holidays / weekends.

·       Must participate in 24x7x365 scheduled support rotation Must carry Tollway issued cellphone for on-call support and for response to calls/incidents before or after shift hours / weekends / holidays.

·       Must be able to lift 50 pounds

·       Candidate must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Plant a Tree on Arbor Day - Friday, April 29




The Illinois Tollway is committed to minimizing the environmental impacts of its roadways by adopting wetland improvement and landscaping projects with local and regional benefits. As part of this effort, the Tollway is partnering with The Morton Arboretum to enhance aesthetics and expand tree canopy coverage within Tollway system, including the planting of 58,000 trees.


The Tollway will celebrate the new partnership on Arbor Day by offering 15,000 tree seedlings to customers at the Tollway's Downers Grove headquarters and at all seven oases from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, April 29.


Tree species include Bur Oak, Red Oak, Shagbark Hickory, Hackberry and Shingle Oak. Tree seedlings and planting instructions will be available at the following locations:

I-90 Mile Post 74.5 Des Plaines Oasis - Eastbound Only at the 7-Eleven
I-94 Mile Post 18 Lake Forest Oasis

Open Tollway Positions












·       Buyer ($16.00 /Hour)  Deadline to apply 2/9/16

·       This position requires an individual with an Associate degree.

·       This position also requires a minimum of three (3) years' work experience in the procurement/contract field and/or purchasing-related work.

·        A working knowledge of the State of Illinois Procurement Code is desired.

·        The ability to write contract specifications in a clear and concise manner, from sources ranging from non-existent to overly detailed, is required.

·       Comprehensive skills in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook) are required.

·       Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail are required.

·        The ability to concisely and accurately communicate with using departments and vendors is required.



·        Sign Maker/Hanger ($23.97 /Hour) Deadline to apply 2/8/16

·        High school graduate or GED equivalent is required.

·        Ability to spell and differentiate colors.

·        A Class "A" CDL permit with an endorsement for air brakes is required at the time of interview.

·        Candidates will be required, as a condition of employment, to obtain a Class "A" CDL with an endorsement for air brakes within the first 30 days of employment and maintain said license throughout the term of their employment.

·        Failure to obtain and/or maintain said license shall be grounds for termination.

·        All costs associated with the permit and license is the responsibility of the candidate/employee.

·        Must be able to work in an elevated position on a ladder or lift truck and on elevated structures.

·        Ability to lift and carry 50 - 100 pounds. Have knowledge of and familiarity with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).

·        Two (2) years' experience in sign fabrication and installation is desired.

·        Ability to perform in an outside environment in all types of weather.

·        Must be available to participate in Snow & Ice Control Operations including mandatory overtime as required by Storm Conditions.

·        Knowledge of computer based sign design is desired.

·        Must pass written exam with a 75% or higher in order to qualify for an interview.



·        Roadway Lighting Technician  ($23.97/Hour) Deadline to apply 2/8/16

·        High School Graduate or equivalent GED is required.

·        Regardless of grade, all electricians shall have a general knowledge of roadway electrical maintenance operations.

·        A Class "A" CDL permit with an endorsement for air brakes is required at the time of interview.

·         Candidates will be required, as a condition of employment, to obtain a Class "A" CDL with an endorsement for air brakes within the first 30 days of employment and maintain said license throughout the term of their employment.

·        Failure to obtain and/or maintain said license shall be grounds for termination.

·        All costs associated with the permit and license is the responsibility of the candidate/employee.

·        A Roadway Electrician shall have a minimum of five (5) years on control wiring (Photo cell time controls).

·        Also extensive background on 480 volt single and three phase.

·        Incumbent must be able to lift 60 pounds.

·        Must pass written examination with a 75 % or higher to qualify for an interview.

Tollway Position

o   One (1) year of customer service, cash handling, retail or bank experience is required.

·       Traffic Operations Technician  $14.05/Hour

·       Prior experience in traffic operations.
·        Knowledge of the Tollway roadway system, CAD operations and computer operations. 
·       The ability to type forty (40) words per minute. 
·       Demonstrable ability to read a map, demonstrable logic skills, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Tollway Openings


·       Building Maintenance Manager  ($74,000.00 - $84,000.00 Annually)
o   High School graduate or equivalent is required.
o   Some college and/or trade school attendance is preferred.
o   A minimum of five (5) years work experience in Building Maintenance, such as Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC and Low Pressure Boilers or equivalent work experience is required.
o   A minimum of five (5) years of supervisory or managerial work experience is required.
o   This position requires you to have a valid driver's license and must be maintained throughout employment.
o   The incumbent must be able to read blueprints, drawings, and layouts.
o   Excellent organizational, written and verbal skills are required.
o   Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel & Outlook) is required.
o   Must have the ability to use various types of hand and power tools, along with measuring instruments.
o   Must be able to lift 50 to 75 lbs.
o   Must Pass a written exam with a 75% or higher in order to qualify for an interview.

·       Custodian Supervisor  ($54,000.00 - $59,000.00 Annually)
o   High School graduate or equivalent is required.
o   A minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience in a multi-site environment is required.
o   A valid driver's license is required and must be maintained for this position.
o   This position is required to travel to various locations in various weather conditions.
o   This position requires the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
o   Must be able to train and guide subordinates.
o   Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
o   Excellent time management and leadership skills are required.
o   This position will require the physical attribute to be able to lift 90 lbs., climb stairs and ladders and have the ability to work in confined spaces.
o   The ability to read and understand instructions placed on labels is required, especially on the usage of cleaning materials and pesticides and other chemical products.
o   Will require the ability to work with chemicals without sensitivity restrictions.
o   Must be able to work without fear of rodents and/or insects.
o   Will be required to wear ANSI 75 approved steel-toed shoes.
o   Must be available for emergency call-out situations and work overtime when required.
o   Will be required to work rotating shifts including weekends, nights and holidays as deemed necessary by the Custodial Manager.
o   Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
o   Experience in a computerized timekeeping environment is highly desired.
o   Must pass a written examination with a seventy-five percent (75%) or higher score in order to qualify for an interview.
