Sauk Trail Closure Update

Dyer Police Traffic Alert:

The new US 30 grade separation structure over the Canadian National/Wisconsin Central Railroad (CN/WC formerly EJ&E) in Lynwood, IL will open, weather permitting, on Friday, November 6th. The project will reduce the potential for accidents by eliminating the at-grade crossing with the CN/WC railroad tracks. It will also eliminate delays and congestion related to the at-grade crossing.

Traffic lanes on U.S. 30 (Lincoln Highway) will be reduced from two lanes to one lane of traffic in each direction on the newly constructed pavement to allow the new eastbound lanes to be connected to the existing pavement.

Sauk Trail Road will be closed at U.S. 30 to allow the new Sauk Trail Road lanes to be connected to the existing pavement through the old U.S. 30. A detour will be posted following Torrence Avenue to U.S. 30.

This work will be completed by early December. U.S. 30 will then be opened to two lanes of traffic through the winter. Sauk Trail Road will also be opened to traffic at that time.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
